The Astron prefabricated steel parking system offers a fast, modern, cost-effective, and long-lasting solution, increasingly chosen by major European cities and multinational companies to address their parking challenges.

In collaboration with Astron—the leading European supplier of steel-framed buildings—Dryvit Profi Kft. delivers high-quality design and construction of Astron parking structures within short lead times, tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.

In the first half of 2023, Hungary’s first Astron steel-framed parking garage was inaugurated in Veszprém, jointly designed and built by Dryvit Profi Kft. and Astron.

The three-story facility covers 5,600 m² and provides 154 parking spaces, using 180 tons of Astron steel structures. Parking is managed by the latest access control and payment systems, while the building’s façade is enhanced with pre-grown ivy walls, creating an elegant and environmentally friendly appearance. We are proud to announce that in August 2023, a professional committee of engineers from France, Germany, and Poland selected this Astron steel parking garage, executed by Dryvit Profi Kft., as “Building of the Month” in Europe.
We can now also boast a European professional award – Hungary’s greenest parking garage has been named “Building of the Month”.

MAXIMIZED USASBILITY,
MINIMIZED MATERIAL USE

The primary principle in designing Astron steel-framed parking garages is functionality. At the same time, rising property prices are fundamentally changing the cost implications of parking—an observable trend in Hungary in recent years. The lean design minimizes structural elements that do not directly contribute to vehicle storage. Small column cross-sections, made possible by articulated connections, allow more parking spaces within the same footprint. The composite floor system enables thinner slabs, which means more levels can be built within a given building height, achieving less than 23 m² per parking space—maximizing capacity while minimizing materials.

In both design and production, we use the most advanced materials and technologies. The use of high-strength steel, composite floors, and concrete with special additives provides Astron parking garages with advantages that traditional monolithic concrete structures cannot match. During design, the latest software and BIM modeling allow full control over building functions. Spatial perception, parking space dimensions, and visibility of turning areas can be precisely managed. The façade design can be adapted independently of the structural system, offering multiple alternatives that simplify integration into the urban environment.

Rising labor costs and a shortage of skilled workers make speedy construction and low-labor technologies increasingly important. Today, organizational advantages are also critical. In busy urban areas or projects involving major traffic hub reconstructions that impact local residents, rapid completion significantly reduces disruption. For multi-story parking garages in industrial parks, especially when built partly over existing parking areas, fast phased construction ensures minimal interruption of site use. Thanks to prefabricated steel, assembly is almost effortless, making Astron parking garages quick to build without compromising quality.

COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR EVERY NEED

The Astron prefabricated steel parking garage has earned the trust of investors across Europe in numerous competitions, meeting a wide range of evaluation criteria. Past projects range from the largest—a seven-story garage at Lyon-Saint Exupéry International Airport accommodating 2,000 vehicles—to the smallest, a single-level garage at a French Audi dealership for just 66 cars. Across this spectrum, the Astron lightweight steel parking system has repeatedly proven to be the most advantageous solution for projects of all sizes.

FREEDOM OF USE

Meeting customer requirements is greatly facilitated by the 16-meter clear-span steel structure, which allows complete flexibility in parking layout. The absence of intermediate supports ensures the building remains fully adaptable to changing user needs. For example, if wider spaces are needed to accommodate SUVs or off-road vehicles, simply repainting the floor markings is sufficient. Similarly, if longer vehicles require a herringbone layout instead of perpendicular parking, adjustments are easily made with minimal effort—no structural changes needed.

RECYCLED MATERIALS AND LOW MAINTENANCE COSTS

During construction, materials are used efficiently with minimal waste. Steel is one of the most recycled materials of our time—over 60% of iron and steel products produced since 2018 are made from recycled materials, and this proportion continues to grow. The hot-dip galvanizing of steel structures, instead of paint containing chemicals, ensures a maintenance-free, longer-lasting building. Motion-sensor LED lighting further reduces operating costs, especially compared to outdoor parking, thanks to shorter distances. Snow removal, de-icing, and environmental impacts can be reduced by 60–75%, and in covered structures, these issues can be virtually eliminated.

PROTECTION AGAINST ACCIDENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS

The Astron parking garage system includes safety railings installed even before the floors are built. These railings protect construction workers on-site, as well as future users, pedestrians, and the building itself. The column-free design reduces annoying scratches and dents on vehicles and provides protection against extreme environmental conditions, such as hail, freezing rain, or strong winds.
